【摘要】 In the last few decades, the theory of quasiconformal (QC, for short) maps and quasisymmetric (QS) maps (both in the Euclidean spaces and in more general metric spaces) has attracted significant attention, largely due to its close ties with and applications in several branches of mathematics, as well as physics and material sciences. By nature, quasiconformality is a local distortion property while quasisymmetry is a global one. A fundamental problem in this research area is to study under what conditions the local quasiconformality of a homeomorphism deduces the global quasisymmetry. In this talk, we will present some progress on this fundamental problem. The main idea behind these results is to introduce some intermediate classes of maps, such as weakly H-QS or (L,M)-QS to serve as bridges between quasiconformality and quasisymmetry.
